"Speaker"
Brad Wilson Advances 3 Democrat Gun Control Bills:
Don't Fall for the
Games
Alert for 2/23/2020:
House "speaker" Brad Wilson is distracting gun owners from
real threats to their rights by advancing 3 over-the-top
crazy, Democrat-sponsored gun control bills to his hand-picked
committees. It's an age-old tactic designed to keep
Citizens in fear and chaos.
These committees are holding dog-and-pony-shows (aka "public
hearings") tomorrow (Monday, Feb. 24).
For those desiring to observe
the entertaining political theater, Utah Firearms Association
put out
hearing details.
Wilson and his criminal cohorts want gun owners to fear that
these wacky bills will pass unless they drop everything and
rush up to the capitol to plead for mercy. Meanwhile,
Wilson is advancing
other gun control bills that will, without
your serious attention, likely pass.
Rather than fall for Wilson's bait-and-switch games, consider
what you can do to more effectively resist his comprehensive
gun control agenda.

Applying Political Pain Where it Matter Most
Meet house
"speaker" Brad Wilson: the politician most
responsible for gun control in Utah's state house. |
These are ALL Wilson's Hand-Picked Committees
Most Utahans have no idea that house "speaker" Brad
Wilson single-handedly appoints, and can remove, EVERY member of EVERY
house committee (House
Rules 1-3-102).
Or that he does so without any required review or
confirmation process.
If you haven’t read the 2016 expose, "Two
Bullies Steal Your Rights," you should.
Under normal rules, bills in the house
must go through the formidable gatekeeper: the house rules
committee.e This
gatekeeper may either "hold" (i.e. effectively kill) a bill, or
forward it to a "standing" or "interim"
committee for potential action.
Bills that pass a committee may then move to the full house
floor for action.
Where it gets bizarre is that house "speaker" Brad
Wilson hand-picks the chairman and each member of the rules
committee. They
serve at his will and pleasure, which means he effectively controls
them.
Rather than hold/kill 3 particularly heinous gun control bills, Wilson’s rules committee has
forwarded them to two "standing" committees for some dog-and-pony shows
(aka "public hearings").
These "standing" committees are also entirely hand-picked by
Wilson, just like the rules committee.
Wilson is a top
candidate for
The French Army Award for
meritorious disservice in mis-leading from the rear. |
The 3 gun control bills Wilson plans to parade tomorrow (Monday, Feb
24th) are:
*
HB 109 "Requiring Federal Regime Permission to
Transfer Private Firearms": This bill would empower
federal agents to micro-manage all private firearm sales.
Some have referred to it as "universal background checks."
*
HB 115
"Absurd Liability to Gun Owners for Lending Firearms
to Others": This bill is designed to scare gun owners
away from lending their firearms to people who may desperately
need them. It
makes the gun owner ridiculously liable for just about
anything the recipient might possibly do. Lines 30 and
33 also define minors as automatically "unfit" to lend firearms
to.
*
HB 136 "Criminalize Firearm Access
for Parents/Guardians & Other Innocent Gun Owners":
This bill criminalizes firearm storage where a minor or
"person legally restricted from possessing a firearm" may
access them, and criminalizes firearm dealers who refuse to
post a written notice of possible prosecution for violating
this new statute.
Wilson's committee henchmen have scheduled all 3
dog-and-pony shows to occur on the same day and general time,
but in
separate committees and on separate floors. This should make
it extra convenient for the elderly and those with physical
disabilities to run up and down the capitol in hopes of participating and having
their voices heard.

In Utah, a corrupt house "speaker" can cause enormous
chaos and confusion. |
Brad Wilson Pulls Strings & Your Day is Ruined
Are you seeing the game yet?
One individual is forcing thousands of Utah’s gun owners to expend
tremendous resources, and make personal sacrifices, to run
around in a frantic, desperate attempt to resist diabolical, imbecilic gun
control bills on very short notice.
If you have trouble believing that this arrangement
exists in this way (and even if you do), read,
"Two
Bullies Steal Your Rights." The power structure
of Utah's legislature is nothing like what you may have been
taught in school.
One person is ultimately responsible for this mess: house
"speaker" Brad Wilson.
Were Wilson a friend of gun owners, these 3 grotesque offenses
would have been tossed in the
garbage, and their sponors would have been:
(1) Removed from any committees for violating their oaths of
office, and,
(2) Punished for disorderly conduct according to
Utah constitution, article 6, section 10.
A real leader would
have sought to make that happen. Wilson is instead
facilitating these vile perpetrators.
In a real Republic, Citizens select
representatives to do their bidding. In Utah, Citizens
are sent on wild goose chases at the bidding of their
so-called "leader."

Birds of a
feather... Brad Wilson and his "fixer," Democrat
minority "leader" Brian King. |
The Old "Bait & Switch" to Distract Gun Owners
Why is Wilson pushing these bills forward? Given
the dictatorial powers he feels comfortable employing as house
"speaker," it can't be because he values "democracy" and
"equality." And,
given his shady past behavior, he certainly has no
commitment to honesty and fair play.
Are these bills at all? No, at least not this year.
But channeled fear can be a powerful motivator for those who
enjoy abusing and manipulating innocent people.
UT Gun Rights invites you to take a step back from the
sky-is-falling fear-mongering, slow down, and carefully ponder
tomorrow's scenario.
Consider that all 3 gun control
bills are being run by flamboyant Democrats.
For many GOP legislators, particularly in an election year, it would
be political suicide to approve obvious Democrat-sired gun control
bills. Cozy Wilson knows this.
Also consider that
HB 109 is sponsored by Democrat minority "leader" Brian King.
Why would Wilson allow his supposed house counterpart and
"enemy," the privilege of having his bill heard in committee; let alone
potentially pass the GOP-dominated house? If you
think Wilson is that stupid, word has it he has some
swampland at Dugway to sell you.
Regardless of one's view of cannabis, King proved more
recently that any House Democrat support of cannabis
legalization was a fraudulent fantasy.
Democrat Brian King Greases the Skids
The following example demonstrates
Brian King's role as a "fixer,"
"gatekeeper,"
or "deep
state" agent who says one thing in public, but pushes the
opposite for the house "speaker" when he thinks the public
isn't looking. Cannabis happens to be the particular
issue involved, but it could be any issue.
In November of 2018, Citizens passed
Proposition 2 ("Utah Medical Cannabis Act"),
a statewide Citizens Initiative granting limited access to cannabis for relief
of medical ailments. On December 3, 2018, just two days after Prop 2 was
enacted, the Utah legislature held a "special session" to effectively gut
Proposition 2, which they did by enacting
House Bill 3001, Substitute 6 (HB 3001).
HB 3001 was
crafted in complete secrecy by corporate special
interests.
Under House rules, a bill is supposed to have a public
committee hearing and receive a "favorable" committee
recommendation before it can be passed on the House floor.
Being crafted in secrecy and sprung upon the public and
legislators at the last moment, HB 2001 had never had such a
hearing.
It was also supposed to remain on the
house reading calendar a day before moving to the house third
reading calendar. However, HB 2001 backers wanted to
pass the bill by a 2/3 constitutional majority so that it
could go into effect immediately. They didn't want the
public to have an additional day to shore up opposition.
In other words, in order for HB 2001
to be heard at all, and in order to ramrod it through quickly,
the normal House rules had to first be suspended. Guess
who suspended those rules?
That's right. House Democrat "leader" and
supposed ACLU
champion of civil liberties, Brian King, slinked to the microphone and made the
motion to suspend House Rules so that the HB 2001 could be heard.
and go to 11:35 minutes to watch the shameless patsy sell out.
King's motion to suspend the rules required a
two-thirds majority to pass. Yet, not one voice was heard saying "Nay"
(i.e. opposing his motion). Think about that...
Not
ONE Utah House Democrat (or Republican) was willing to buck the
house speaker (at that time )
when the rubber met the road.
Not one single Democrat had enough commitment to vote against the shady, crooked, and
perverted way business was being conducted.
They all knew the game. As Democrat "leader," King
was announcing to his colleagues that it was also the will of the Democrat
"leadership" to ramrod HB 2001 through and gut Proposition 2.
King
secures his legislative position by by training the other representatives to bend over and take
whatever abuse the house "speaker" gives them.
"Have we got a deal for
you gun owners!" |
It's All a
Dirty Con Game
So, what is King doing now?
He's playing his pre-assigned
scapegoat role.
He takes the heat for over-the-top gun control legislation,
gets all sorts of wet kudos from his effeminate, snowflake
supports in the Democrat "community," and Brad Wilson gets to
look good for defeating them
while
passing many other gun control bills you aren't even aware of.
To these politicians, regardless of their supposed partisan
affiliation, it's all a game. If these particular gun control bills
were intended to pass, they would most
certainly have Republican sponsors.
The strategy involves keeping you distracted and engaged in useless pursuits
that negate your ability to concentrate and be effective.
While you are running around in the chaos, they advance their
real agenda for this legislative session.
Wilson and his counterpart, senate "president"
Stuart Adams, and their predecessors, have played gun owners
like this for many years.
To add insult to injury, Wilson and his cronies are also
counting on gun owners to actually thank them for
stopping these Democrat gun control bills.
Many in Utah's gun community will fall for it with
fallacious arguments like,
"Just imagine what would happen without
these wonderful leaders standing in the gap to protect us?"
Just watch. It happens
every cycle.
That's why UT Gun Rights lists these 3 gun control bills as "Bad Bills"
under the heading, "Less Likely / Distractions"
on its 2020
Bill Tracking Page: The Good, the Bad, & the Ugly.
Death by a thousand smaller cuts is the plan.
Take a look at the
long list of "Bad Bills" UT Gun Rights has so far
examined, and how quickly most are advancing. More
are on the way. Most of them will be enacted with
hardly a peep of resistance. That's the game.

the political theater begin!"

Seeing Past
the Political Theater
Utah is arguably the fraud capital of America because
the majority of its Citizens refuse to confront the real,
foundational problems that have made it this way.
Attending Monday's dog-and-pony shows can be
instructive and may even rattle the cages of a few squishy Republicans.
Again, Utah Firearms Association put out
hearing details.
You could go connect with people, observe, hear
some rip-roaring
speeches, chuckle at fun signs, try to squeak in a few words
if Wilson's hand-picked committee chair allows you to, slip your legislator a note
or get his divided attention for a moment, and otherwise gain experience.
At the very least, it is certain to provide entertaining political theater.
[Note: Please be aware of the
following
generally-applicable open carry and free speech warnings if you choose to
attend.]
You can also call and email your lowly house members.
Find, and communicate with, your
house,
senate,
and
executive branch officials.
If nothing else, it puts them
on notice that you are watching them, and aren't impressed.
Feel free to give them a
piece of your mind, but please take careful note of
the following free speech
warning as you engage them.
These
sorts of activities are all instructional and exciting, but,
in and of themselves, they fall short of the most important element
of political involvement: accountability.

Brad Wilson has
already answered the question. More than 1,000
gun owners protested at Utah's capitol at the Feb. 8
"Pro 2A Rally." |
Applying Political Pain Where it Matter Most
If Wilson skates politically for the trouble he is
perpetrating, after he and his corrupt lobbyist handlers laugh
at your gullibility, they'll
try even more outrageous antics. Like the man
behind the curtain, they will increasingly pull their levers and
strings to make you hop and dash from one manufactured crisis
to another.
Gun owners will never react fast enough to keep ahead of
the games these political criminals play. They know all
the tricks of the trade, from parliamentary maneuverings to
the insidious application of perverse campaign finance pressure.
They own the capitol battlefield, and you are a powerless
visitor they (barely) tolerate.
To put the brakes on gun control, the primary
orchestrator and mover of it, house "speaker" Brad Wilson,
must begin to feel substantive political heat for his
traitorous and contemptible behavior.
A political rebellion, from the grassroots up, must remove
Wilson from his position, and the powers of the house
"speaker" must be restricted so that one politician cannot
dominate the entire process so completely and corruptly.
The same goes for senate "president" Stuart Adams, who holds
nearly identical, tyrannical powers over that body.
Neighborhoods must be organized for upcoming neighborhood
partisan caucuses, gun owners must file to run for office, and
a groundswell of discontent and anger must compel Wilson to
stop being so "cozy" with rabid Democrats and perhaps even
vacate his position entirely.
Until then, gun owners will continue to frantically run in circles and fall victim to the same tired
and predictable games. Feel free to go
back through the early years of UT Gun Rights alerts, updates,
and reports, and see for yourself. Same games, different
year.
To learn how you can start the process of holding the
key perpetrators of gun control accountable, see UT Gun Rights' article, "What
You Can Do." The real work starts outside of the
legislative session, away from Utah's corrupt capitol, and
among the Citizens.
