House Monarchess Publicly Affirms Her Brutal Authority

Over these last few weeks, UT Gun Rights has been attempting to describe to you how your "representative" and "senator" serve the will and dictates of a monarch, in the form of the house speaker and senate president.  Some of you may think we were exaggerating.

Consider a recent, brazen display of candor by house speaker Rebecca Lockhart, who stated:

"I empower committee chairs to make those decisions..."  [bold added]

These telling words accurately describe the extent of Lockhart's power and control over your "house of representatives".  We offer the following observations:

1) If Lockhart were powerless over committee chairs, she might have said something like, "I have no control over the committee chairs or any decision they make."  But her choice of words is accurate.  She alone, and without any formal review or confirmation process, selects every member of every standing committee — including the committee chair.  These committees control the ebb and flow of every bill.

2) Because Lockhart likewise controls the house rules committee, committee chairs would not make a decision adverse to her agenda because an "unfavorable committee" would never see a bill of her interest in the first place.  The rules committee would assign it elsewhere.  And any committee chair who crossed her too many times could be replaced.

3) Lockhart supports the decisions of her hand-picked committee chairs because they are, in fact, her decisions merely carried out by them.

As you comprehend what we are exposing, you will realize that there are only two phone calls you need to make, two emails/faxes/letters you need to send, and only two people you need to constantly reprimand: house speaker Rebecca Lockhart and senate president Wayne Niederhauser.  Take the first step in showing these two monarchs that you are watching who they "empower" as their committee chairs, and that their decisions better start reflecting YOUR will.

Appropriate Actions: Until true gun rights champions are found who will stand up to these two tyrants in your stead — as your true representatives and senators — you need to stand up to them.
